Want to contribute to my book?

During my Birthday Brainstorming session, my tribe and I concluded that it’s time for me to get published! But…

I want to publish YOUR story!

fantabulouswomen roses

My stories can wait. I want to get YOU published in a FanTABulous Women compilation book! I’m thinking of short stories of about 500 words, submitted by you and edited and curated by me. Let ME get YOU published!

I’m not sure if the book will have one central theme with many different stories that fit the theme…or if the stories will have several themes that emerge as YOU submit them. I believe that will become clear as I begin to collect them–like something of a patchwork quilt.

Let’s get started!

For now, I’ll be collecting your stories (and eventually a short bio and possibly a picture, too) and see where it goes. Of course I’ll keep you in the loop as the project evolves. I’d like to feature CEOs, stay-at-home moms, grandmas, 20-somethings…anyone with a story to tell and a willingness to “put yourself out there.” Submission guidelines and such will also be a work in progress.

I know some of you have a story in your heart, just waiting to be set free! Some of you may have dozens of stories! Here are some ideas to get you started.

Suggestions:

  • overcoming a challenge
  • getting a new perspective
  • story of a faith journey
  • a funny story of virtually any topic!
  • lessons in motherhood (step mom issues, pregnancy loss, learning to let go, etc.)
  • secrets to business success
  • life taking an unexpected turn
  • lessons in love
  • dealing with loss
  • finding joy
  • so many others!

So! Wanna get published?

Want to be a part of a collaborative effort that results in a digital and hard copy of a beautiful book that you can give to your friends, family and colleagues?

Get on the mailing list! Don’t worry, I will only contact you with pertinent information, deadlines and updates. And the first step doesn’t obligate you to ANYthing. Yes, eventually there will be waivers and such but for now, I just need to know who is interested.

Know someone who might be a good fit for this project, too? Feel free to send them the link to the Book Project Page or share this post on your social media sites.

Expect an email at the first of the year to launch this very special project!

I have a confession to make

Oh, people have told me many times over the years that I am…but I just brush it off.

It has a rather negative connotation, is widely misunderstood and isn’t something to be particularly proud of.

perfectionist pencils fantabulous women

Some of the people who own up to it aren’t necessarily ones I want to emulate or be categorized with.

Claiming it puts you into a box and, in my opinion, often just heaps more expectations upon you.

There are a lot of good reasons to keep denying it.

But…it keeps coming up. And…

One of the core values of FanTABulous Women is “celebrate what you are good at and get help when you need it.”

The funny thing is, I’m still working out whether it’s something to celebrate…or something to get help with.

So I’ll just confess it to you, my FanTABulous Women community, so we can work through it together:

I am Tabitha and I am a perfectionist.

Pheeewww.

I said it.

I feel better now.

And I know that some of you are laughing and saying, “Well, duh.”

It seems that perhaps I’m the last to know.

P.S. There is a lot to say on this topic so stay tuned for follow-up posts, including “Yep, you’re a perfectionist.”

DON’T MISS OUT! Sign up to receive my posts automatically by subscribing via email in the righthand sidebar.

Tell me…am I alone? Are there other perfectionists out there? Do you love it or hate it? Do share!

Five Secrets to a More Beautiful Morning

If you’re joining us from the FanTABulous Women email newsletter, welcome!

Do you find yourself wishing for a smoother morning routine that also helps you start your day looking and feeling your best?

Here are my five secrets!

fantabulous women morning routine

LOOKING GOOD

1. Choose your outfit the night before. Try it on and lay out everything you will need, including undergarments, shoes and accessories. There’s nothing more stressful than searching for a lone camisole or errant earring when you’re racing against the clock in the morning!

2. Have a simple everyday makeup look easily accessible. Set aside your wild eye shadows and bold lipsticks for special occasions. Make sure that your basic foundation and mascara, along with two to three eye shadows and a blush in neutral shades, are handy so you have no excuse for leaving the house without makeup on.

3. Start your day in a happy place. Take time to sip a cup of coffee, read a page from an inspiring book, repeat your personal mantra, stretch your body or write in your journal before the craziness of the day sets in. There is nothing more beautiful than a woman with a smile on her face and a spring in her step!

FEELING GOOD

4. Keep healthy breakfast foods on hand. Whether it’s a boiled egg, protein bar, V8 juice or cheese stick, eating a healthy breakfast doesn’t have to mean sitting down to a hot meal. You’ll feel better all day if you start it with good fuel and having something you can grab on your way out the door will help guard against desperate donut purchases.

5. Get a grip on your to-do list. Whether twenty items or three, spend some time with your to-do list in the morning and map out your day. Consider tackling your hardest task first, followed by a fun task, to start your day well. Try to schedule in some “me time,” too, even if it’s just flipping through a new magazine in the school car line or enjoying a special treat with your lunch.

Here’s to a happier and more FanTABulous morning!

Could your morning routine use some help? What ideas would you consider implementing this week?
