What is your Dominant Color Category?

I want to help you discover your Dominant Color Category so I can then recommend wardrobe items like scarves, blazers and floral prints for your unique coloring AND tell you what HOT seasonal colors will work for you.

This concept comes from Shari Braendel‘s book “Good Girls Don’t Have To Dress Bad” found on Amazon. I highly recommend the book and I ADORE Shari. This is Shari with my mom and me at an event last year at ASU.

On Becoming A Personal Shopper

I am also a writer and editor in my other life and one of my favorite projects is bio rewrites. I hear it time and time again: “I can’t write about myself!”

I tell them, “Let ME help you look good! It’s so much easier when you do it for someone else!”

So it is with shopping. Let ME choose items FOR you, saving you the time and hassle of choosing them for yourself. Trust me–it’s SO much easier!

Now that I’m doing image consulting full time, I want to build the Personal Shopping aspect.

It already happened, and quite by accident.

I needed to add a few pieces to my wardrobe for spring and summer so I went shopping last night and took my haul over to my mom’s this morning so I could look through her jewelry to borrow some things for a few special occasions that are coming up.

She had to unfortunately attend a funeral later today, so she asked about borrowing something to wear.

She tried on this top and we accessorized it. {yes, that’s my monkey son in the background}

fantabulous women personal shopper

By the time she dropped by later to show me the complete look, she was handing me the money for it. “I want it. You can borrow it.”

fantabulous women personal shopping

Although I’ve done it unofficially for people many times over the years, this was the first time I got paid for it.

Mom loved having a new top to wear in a color and style that was flattering for her (plus the help with accessorizing it!)–and she didn’t have to lift a finger! How cool is that?!?

I can’t wait to help other women, too.

Are you next?? Contact me today to set up your Personal Shopping experience, starting at just $50 per hour.

My Easter Ensemble

My Easter ensemble was a dazzler, eh??

fantabulous women central christian church gilbert

I served on the “First Impressions” team at church for the first time and they’d just gotten these spiffy vests for anyone serving on campus. That me and my new bud, Chuck, greeting near the main parking lot.

I honestly didn’t mind it. After all, neon is totally on-trend right now!

When are you asked to be a little less fashionable than you’d prefer?

Good Reasons to Arrange Your Closet By Color

Closet organization is a personal and somewhat complicated issue.

One option is arranging your closet contents by color.

The picture below represents my tops arranged by color:

White, red, pink, purple, blue, gray, turquoise, green, brown and peach.

fantabulous women closet organization

You’ll notice the same order in the stack of long-sleeved tops on the top shelf as well as in the hanging organizer.

My shoes are arranged by color, too. Silver in the front and brown in the middle row.

Here are some good reasons to arrange your closet by colors:

1. You enjoy wearing color. And I hope you do!

2. You coordinate your outfits based on color {like this one, source FashionistaTrends.com}

FanTABulouswomen closet organization fashionistatrends.com

3. Seeing a rainbow in your closet makes you happy.

If you are one of my ladies who pins color-coordinated outfits on Pinterest, arranging your closet by color is probably a great idea.

Jot down a few of your favorite looks {like the navy, green and white combo pictured above} and go to your closet to put some outfits together.

In the interest of full disclosure, my closet is currently arranged by the type of garment (short-sleeve, long skirt, etc.)–pictures coming soon.

Would you enjoy having your closet arranged by color? Why or why not? Leave a comment here or hop on over to Facebook to keep the conversation going!

Global Makeover Day

It’s Mary Kay’s Global Makeover Day! We’re trying to set a record for the most makeovers in one day.

I’m up to four so far!

This was my mother-daughter pair. Gorgeous! I’m so glad Shannan tried the red lipstick–I love it!

Mom (Kathy) is a Clear and Shannan is a Soft.

Color Makeover!

My lovely friend Michelle was my first color and beauty makeover victim volunteer.

We categorized her Dominant Color Category as a Soft. These are women with light to medium brown hair (sometimes mousy or dishwater blonde), light to medium skin tone and medium intensity eye color (hazel, brown, blue or green).

See how miserable you can be without color?? :)

fantabulous women before makeover

Softs are neutral, neither warm nor cool. Softs should wear soft ivory (rather than ivory or white) and NO black near the face. Michelle was not thrilled with that news as most of her wardrobe staples are black. I recommended adding a pretty necklace or scarf when she wears a black top to bring color to her face.

This was the favorite color that I draped her in: turquoise. Not only does it look lovely ON her, but she is drawn to the color–that’s the winning combination!

The other thing we did was a neutral everyday makeup look: primer, foundation (Beige 3), a little blush (Shy) and lipstick (Shell), all Mary Kay.

Here she is!
